• The edge of the road surface has collapsed, producing a lengthy depression, several inches deep at worst. Hard to spot and avoid in the dark, and, were heavy rain to flood it, impossible to gauge the ddepth at any time. I'm not sure how long the problem has existed, but several weeks at least, probably longer.
