Massive pothole in outside lane towards M8 Greenock BEFORE turnoffs to Edinburgh and city centre

I was travelling from Bishopbriggs to Greenock and was in outside lane before road widens to separate and join different parts of M8 - I live in Argyll and do not know the area well. I hit a massive pothole on driver side of car and had massive immediate shaking and rattling under car. The road was very busy and it was too dangerous a place to stop. I managed to get to Kwikfit in Greenock as I thought it was just a bracket holding the exhaust or something. Turned out the pothole has broken shock absorber on rear driver side and car is not drivable. I am now stranded in Gourock and car in garage in Greenock
