Grass verge near 29 Burns Way, TW5 9BL

Reported via desktop in the Dying or dangerous tree category by Mr Sarb Dhillon at 14:08, Tuesday 28 July 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Hounslow Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9860426.

I wish to report a dying tree, which appears to be in a serious state of decline and presents a risk to public safety.

The tree is dying and is heavily exuding a thick, glue-like or resinous liquid from the trunk at various places. This substance is attracting a significant number of wasps and other insects, creating a hazard for pedestrians, particularly children, elderly residents and anyone who may be allergic to wasp stings.

In addition to the insect activity, I have the following concerns:

* The tree appears to be suffering from disease or severe decay. * The excessive sap/resin discharge suggests the tree may be under significant stress or infected. * Dead and deteriorating sections may become unstable, increasing the risk of falling branches. * If the condition continues to worsen, there is a risk of partial or complete structural failure, particularly during periods of strong winds or heavy rain. * The tree is located close to a public footway and footpath, meaning any falling branches or collapse could cause serious injury to pedestrians, cyclists or motorists and damage to parked or passing vehicles. * The sticky residue is also creating a nuisance by contaminating the footway and nearby vehicles.

Given these concerns, I respectfully request that the Council arrange for an urgent inspection by a qualified officer to assess the health and structural integrity of the tree.

If the inspection confirms that the tree is diseased, dying or structurally unsafe, I ask that appropriate action be taken without delay, including removal if necessary, to protect public safety.

Please acknowledge receipt of this report and advise me of the reference number and the proposed timescale for inspection.

Thank you for your attention to this important public safety matter.
