Trees planted by council have been neglected three have been removed one has been butchered and posts on wots left have been knocked down why spend money on trees was it just to say Bromley has planted hundreds of trees clean and green don’t make me laugh

  • We are aware of a number of sites where trees have really struggled to become established after initial planting. One main factor is poor or compacted soil, wind, vandalism, and of course, lack of water due to increasing number of heat waves experienced in SE England. We are grateful for any extra watering people may wish to provide.

  • Trees can live for decades, if not centuries, but they require a lot of TLC in the first few years to survive and grow to their full potential.

    LBB Tree Friends can make all the difference to the survival and growth of a newly planted tree by watering trees, adding, or adjusting ties or adding mulch. You can also help immensely by pruning branch tips you can reach without a ladder or removing low shoots on lime, alder, pear, and locust trees for LBB to collect. Please consider joining our Tree Friends Tree Friends (bromley.gov.uk).

    We appreciate all small tasks you wish to contribute including encouraging others to learn and appreciate more about the trees where they live. You can make a significant difference to the appearance of your neighbourhood by caring for the trees. Volunteering is fun, sociable and a quality use of time—even if it is an ad hoc activity you add to your other work and family commitments.

  • This tree has been inspected and is not considered to require remedial works at this time. Bromley will only undertake works to a tree for an identified health & safety or highway obstruction issue. The situation will be reviewed cyclically and any required action will be addressed within a future works programme.
