4 Street Lights not working on busy stretch of Queens Drive
Reported via desktop in the Street lighting category anonymously at 10:30, Friday 17 July 2026
Sent to Liverpool City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9801961.
Pictures taken at Midnight last night, complete darkness on a section of busy Queens Drive Carriageway. 4 Street lights not coming on. HGV's usually driving at speed coming off M62, driving through a partial blackout of road could pose a danger.

The previous status which I presume was updated by the Council surely shouldn't have been changed to Fixed, until it actually is. The reply I received from the Council on the 23rd July states that no further action is required at this time. Reply I received as follows:-
Dear Customer,
Reference number: RAS001140 Summary: Light is out
Thank you for reporting a street light issue.
We have reviewed your report and, after assessment, no further action is required at this time. This may be because:
The issue does not meet our current intervention criteria it is already scheduled for inspection or repair it has previously been reported. This report has now been closed.
If the issue changes or worsens, please submit a new report and quote your reference number so we can review it promptly.
Clearly it isn't fixed when these pictures were taken at 11pm last night 23rd July. 3 Lights are still out. Have they inspected the correct Lights?. I don't see why I should have to submit a new report again in 15 days, which is obviously what will happen, if in the reply to me it says no further action at this time.

Still open, via questionnaire -
It would be great if you could give a landmark or address near to these lights as otherwise we have very dark images and a rough useless location. You cannot expect us to fix this from just that. So could you help us out a bit. Thanks.

This information was provided back in July when you sent me an email which I copied and pasted above, which stated in your reply that according to yourselves no action is required at this time. Even though there have been 3 Lights out since back in July and they still are. On a Multi lane major busy carriageway running off the Motorway with speeding HGV's throughout the night, persistent dark stretches like this can pose a serious accident risk. I shouldn't have to keep repeating myself and having to submit another report all over again, when I'm told in one email it will be fixed in 15 days, then another email saying nothing will be done. The Lights that are OFF are outside 689 Queens Drive, 701 Queens Drive and the one facing 701 in the central reservation. You only have to have the Contractors drive along to see just how dark it is.

To whoever asked if it is fixed, 2 lights are still out on the other side of the carriageway. Is it some sort of a joke that the one they have put on now makes outside the house look like something from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This LED is ridiculously bright like something on a floodlit football pitch. Furthermore it is disrupting our sleep, not only lighting up the front of our house but shining into bedroom windows. Why was this broken light not just replaced with a yellow/orange light with a softer diffused glow?. This is not satisfactory, these LED lights cause circadian disruption for People, Birds and Insects, this is disrupting my sleep. This Lamp is too intense, bright and overly harsh. The intensity of that light needs adjusting so it is not spilling over onto our properties. It's taken 3 months to even address this blackout and now you do this.

Never had any issues with these yellow/orange lamps. That LED needs a directional hood to stop it spilling over onto our homes into Bedroom Windows, or adjustment to the output intensity.

You can clearly see how bright from the huge orb glare coming off that light, in comparison to the orange Street Lamp to the left of the picture further down the road. Would you like that shining in your window all night?, and yes I do have Blackout Curtains.

I am not being funny but you wanted them fixed didn’t you? You got two fixed the others are waiting on new posts. Liverpool city council doesn’t replace bulbs they are going all led to save energy and increase brightness. Exactly as you wanted. Unfortunately there is no alternative. You will get used to it don’t worry we had too as well.

Do you work for Liverpool City Council?. I am well aware of McCann having the Lighting contract. I think you are actually being funny telling me to just get used it. You don't have to live here. Of course we wanted some light on a majorly busy road when it's a potential hazard to have 3 lights being out all in the same area for 3 months creating a blackout. As for your comment "It is what you wanted". What nobody wants is a ridiculously bright floodlight shining in their windows keeping them awake at night, it's just about common sense and consideration for residents. This matter will be taken further.

No problem take it further. May I remind you that the council cannot see reply’s only the original report which can I also remind you they didn’t fix until I prompted them too. So no problem at all. Your more than welcome to go through the Liverpool city council website online and create a report for each light causing an issue. This matter is now closed for this report. Thank you.

I assume that you are one of the Councillors then, who passes comment but never actually visits this address to actually see or understand the issue, of which there have been many. I'm well aware of how Fix My Street works seeing as I am constantly having to report problems on here in this area. The matter is not closed as far as I am concerned, we have to live here, you don't.
