I am writing to raise a formal complaint regarding significant defects on the shared pedestrian and cycle path, particularly concerning pavement condition and road markings.
As residents, we pay council tax regularly with the expectation that the local authority will carry out necessary inspections, maintenance, and improvements in a timely and proactive manner. However, I have not observed any evidence of routine inspection or preventative action in this area. It is concerning that residents are left to report such obvious issues, rather than the council implementing regular monitoring and maintenance programmes.
The area in question is heavily used by the public and is of particular sensitivity due to the presence of a nearby nursery. As a result, the route is frequently used by pedestrians, cyclists, and parents with pushchairs. Despite this, the path has deteriorated significantly and now presents multiple safety hazards.
There are substantial surface defects that are severe enough to damage bicycle wheels and pushchairs. In addition, the road and lane markings have almost completely faded, making it unclear which areas are designated for pedestrians and which are for cyclists. This creates confusion and increases the risk of accidents in an already busy environment.
Given the level of usage and the vulnerable users of this route, I urge you to treat this matter as a priority. Immediate repair works and reinstatement as well as clear markings are required to ensure public safety.

In addition to the points mentioned above, the greenery along the road is constantly encroaching onto the carriageway, and broken branches from the trees pose a potential risk. Furthermore, litter is continuously accumulating on both sides of the road and requires regular cleaning every week. In addition, immediate action is required regarding the situation we previously reported to you.
