Stretch of Green Chain Walk encroached upon.
Reported via mobile in the Public Right of Way footpath category anonymously at 14:52, Saturday 4 July 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9732562.
A garden at BR7 6NG has been extended at the back, enclosing a significant area of Green Chain Walk. At least one tree has been removed, and the remaining area has become a bit of a rubbish tip. The fencing was put up maybe 2 years ago.

Email received at CSC 16.43 06.07.26 I attach the land registry and council documents that show that the garden should not be sticking out 2m into the Green Chain Walk.
The density and height of mature trees on each side of this empty stretch suggest a lot were removed. I attach a photo of the log store at the bottom of the garden which I suspect came from those trees.
I would like to ensure the logs will not be burnt in the garden as the resulting carcinogenic smoke blows straight into my property (even more now that the windbreak between gardens has been chopped down).

The case has been referred to the Council's legal department to determine the offence that has been committed and what enforcement action is necessary. Further posts updating the report will be added once the above points have been clarified.

The above relates to the garden of 4 Fosters Close, which has moved its boundary 2m into the Green Chain Walk public footpath. The same applies to 1 Fosters Close, which has also encroached on the Green Chain Walk (public land), flouting HM Land Registry details of where their property boundary lies. Both properties' extensions have had a detrimental effect on the Green Chain Walk.

FAO Bromley Legal Dept: The Council spoke to a man at No.4 about the fencing 8(?) years ago, but it was not removed and the Council apparently did not follow it up.

Please attach the following to Fixmystreet Report 9732562:-
Attached are Land Registry and Council maps which show the Green Chain Walk is a uniform width (6 metres).
1 Fosters Close's fencing has reduced that width to 5 metres.
4 Fosters Close has commandeered so much of the Green Chain Walk, only 2 metres width is left for public use!
I hope the public space and trees will be reinstated as soon as possible.
