Damaged surface the entire length of the main footpath passing the cemetery and park to the crossroads

Reported via desktop in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 15:04, Thursday 2 July 2026

Sent to East Lothian Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9722717.

The narrow pavement which runs along the B6355 in Pencaitland, past the cemetery and park, is in a dreadful state of repair. There is not a smooth section on this path; it has been dug up many times and repaired poorly. The surface is pitted in places, lumpy in others and it is impossible to pass safely without dodging obstacles, including an overhanging hedge. People pushing buggies, the infirm, elderly and disabled are struggling to use this pathway, which is the main path to the village from the north east side of the village. Traffic not always driving within the speed limit adds to the danger.
