Road sign blocking visibility to the right when exiting Orchard Coombe on to the B471
Reported via desktop in the Traffic Signs category anonymously at 14:02, Thursday 2 July 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9722339.
This road sign is blocking visibility to the right when exiting Orchard Coombe to the B471. It appears to have been installed by Hazel and Jefferies and does not seem to be an authorised sign. It should be removed, or if the sign is needed, placed so as not to impede visibility.

The sign I reported is now lying on the floor, so I now see that the Hazel & Jefferies sign was obscuring an official information sign. I now find that there are two similar signs on the B471 south of the church, adjacent to the playing field. Are these signs authorised? Hazel & Jefferies did some surface dressing earlier this year, is this now deteriorating? The B471 in this area, and the junction with Orchard Coombe is in a deplorable state and needs proper repairs, not just patching.

Thank you for your report and apologies for the delay in a response. Could you please let us know if this is still an issue or if this has now been resolved? If this is still an issue, if possible and safe to do so, could you please provide any new images and detailed location information of the issue so we can get this raised for repair faster. Many thanks and kind regards

The sign has fallen off and is now lying on the grass verge. 2 other signs to the south of this one, which also appear to be unauthorised signs installed by Hazel and Jefferies, are still in place! See photo

Nothing has been done about these, what appear to be, unauthorised signs. They have been placed at regular intervals on the B471 from Whitchurch Hill to Crays Pond. In addition, a number of these signs are in direct conflict with the official 30 mph signs. If there is actually a skid risk this is due to the shoddy resurfacing completed by Hazel and Jefferies earlier this year!
