Foul water escaping from copse

Thames water has tested this water it does not contain chlorine. It appears to be escaping from the copse on the opposite side of the road to The Old Church House. It appears to be seeping through the bank and on to the grass verge. We recently cleared the verge from brambles, ivy, branches and rubbish in April and sowed some grass seed with wild flowers to tidy up the entrance to the village. At that point the verge was completely dry and there was no water in the road. Since 20 May we noticed the grass has grown but is completely sodden with pooling water that has a scum on it. Despite last week’s hot weather the water has continued to flow down the road and collects at the entrance to the dog walking field. As cars drive through it it splashes up. It has a strong ammonium smell which is not good for all the dogs and their walkers.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.
