Dogs toilets in holt

Reported anonymously at 14:35, Fri 19 February 2010

Sent to Norfolk County Council and North Norfolk District Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 96958.

Holt has over 200 acres of green space in Holt and most of it is not worth visiting with a family to play on because of all the dog fouling. When can say 10 acres of the country park become a DOG FREE ZONE, as no parent would take their children to play in a dogs toilet. We would like to be able to sit on the grass and picnic, roll down hills and make daisy chains, obvously even if all dog owners cleaned up , which they don't, the ground and grass would still have lots of residue of poo still on it after say 40/50 dogs had pooped on it,it wouldn't be clean enough to play on, that is why today you don't see people out enjoying a picnic on the grass like we used to.
in this day and age when nearly all dog owners (NIMBYS) never used their own back yards and always go out for a poo, we child owners need a choice to wake up on a saturday morning and have somewhere clean and free to take our children into the country side, at present we have no choice only tiny play fields for toddlers or play and put up with the dogs toilets that we have. the sheringham park has now made a dog free zone, so why can't some of the 110 acre country park in Holt be dog free if this could be achieved in the future, you would get a lot more local families out enjoying the green spaces on their doorsteps.the issue of poop bins doesn't really work some dog owners could have one strapped to their own back side and still wouldn't use them.If the NNDC offered Holt some land i would gladly maintain the cutting and management of it.Sorry to keep complaning but nothing is being done.we are not happy with our choices.
