Hedges in the park that touch back gardens in Kent Road
Reported via mobile in the Shrub Beds category anonymously at 17:19, Thursday 18 June 2026
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9645807.
The hedges at the back of properties in Kent Road are in a need of a major prune and thinning. They have not been tended to for years and have become huge, lying into residents' gardens taking up their private property space as well as causing darkness and affecting the growing of plants. The photos taken are how they used to look a few years ago when they were regularly pruned to now. They are an eyesore.

Thank you for your enquiry. These hedges are currently scheduled for work to be undertaken around September time, once bird nesting season has concluded. Please note that the Council's maintenance includes maintaining hedges within the site boundary and maintaining a clear vertical edge between the soil and adjacent areas (which typically involves topping and trimming to around 2 metres) and does not involve extensive works to hedges that are considered too high. Under common law, you may cut back any vegetation encroaching onto the property to the boundary line with any arisings disposed of responsibly. This report will be closed on Fix My Street but remains on our list of outstanding items to be actioned.

Please could you clarify your response? Will the hedges be pruned to around 2 metres?

Thank you for your further comment The Council will undertake pruning and maintenance of the hedge up to a height of 2 metres. Please note that maintenance above 2 metres is not undertaken, and it is not our policy to routinely reduce the height of established hedges that are considered taller than this threshold.
