Verges cut but the grass has been left
Reported via desktop in the Grass Verge Cutting category anonymously at 11:45, Thursday 18 June 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9643555.
The verges were cut two weeks ago and the cuttings were air blasted into the road. The traffic movement has pushed the those cutting to the gutter where they lay and gather to block the natural rain drainage. Solution is to sweep the gutters on both sides of Park Avenue.

Thank you for your enquiry. Arisings produced in the cutting of grass verges across the borough are left in situ on the verges. Grass cuttings act as a natural fertiliser and leaving them in situ also helps Bromley provide a value for money service. Grass cuttings that are across the pavement should be blown back onto the verge, however where any cuttings are particularly significant in volume a one-off removal may be undertaken.
In some circumstances, such as during periods of strong winds or through the movement of traffic, cuttings may be dispersed from the verge and collect in other areas.

Grass that is left on the road finishes up clogging the drains. Your response suggests you never got out of the chair to look at the problem. If you had then you will find that that is just what has happened.
