Urgent Request for Removal of Hazardous Trees

I am writing to raise a serious health and safety concern regarding the trees located on our street, 70/72 Meltham Close, which are posing an increasing danger to residents, pedestrians, and vehicles.

During periods of windy weather, large branches regularly fall from these trees. This creates a significant risk of injury or even fatality. There are children who frequently play in the street, and my neighbour has a toddler who regularly walks and plays near the front of the properties and parking areas. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured if this issue is not addressed.

Since moving to the area in 2025, I have not observed any maintenance being carried out on these trees by the council. Their condition appears to have deteriorated, with overgrown branches becoming increasingly unstable and hazardous.

In addition to the immediate danger posed by falling branches, these trees are causing a number of ongoing problems for local residents:

* Large branches and debris are falling onto parked vehicles, causing damage and creating a safety hazard. * The trees produce excessive sap, which coats vehicle windscreens and significantly reduces visibility. On one occasion, the sap on my windscreen impaired my vision to such an extent that I nearly had a collision when exiting the street onto the main road. * Leaves and debris regularly block guttering on nearby properties, increasing the risk of water damage and additional maintenance costs for residents. * Overgrown branches are damaging surrounding fences and property boundaries. * The continued shedding of branches, leaves and sap is creating an avoidable nuisance and safety risk for the entire neighbourhood.

Given the severity of these issues and the clear risk to public safety, I respectfully request that the council urgently inspect these trees and take appropriate action. In my view, the most effective long-term solution would be the removal of the trees before a serious accident occurs.
