I am beyond angry, upset and terrified. My 13 year old son cycling to school this morning, Fitzharrys school Abingdon. Was knocked of his bike and into the road. The Oxfordshire county council say this is a "safe route" of travel, crossing 14 main roads, which are all over grown, the footpath is over grown, the local residents of white cross park on the pavement so it dangerous to have to go on the road to get past. How many of our children need to be injured or worse killed, for the council to understand it is most defiantly not a safe route to travel to school, by either bike or walking. The distance by land transport is 4.698 and distance as the "crow flies" as some councils use is 4.150. My son got knocked into the road today and marginally missed by a car!!!! This is not acceptable and looking back children have died on this route. Please sign a petition to either fund school buses or make it safe.
