Dangerous mud and churned verges

Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 23:03, Thursday 4 June 2026

Not reported to council

The road surface is covered in thick mud, making it extremely slippery and hazardous for all road users. The grass verges on both sides have been severely churned up, most likely by large agricultural or forestry machinery that has passed through.

The mud deposit is significant and poses a real danger to cyclists, motorcyclists, and drivers - particularly in wet conditions. The damaged verges are also being eroded further each time vehicles pass.

This requires urgent road sweeping/cleaning and an inspection of the verge damage. It may also be worth investigating whether the machinery operator has an obligation to clear debris left on the public road.
