20 potholes and damage to road surface continuing to get worse

Reported via mobile in the A pothole in road category anonymously at 20:28, Wednesday 3 June 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9557235.

Flint road has been deteriorating with the amount of car traffic it receives. The surface has got a variety of issues ranging from cracks/splits to patchwork repairs and pot holes as well as a large dip/recess. The potholes are quite significant in size and number and are dotted throughout the road but noticeably in front of 3.4.6.9 and the turning circle. Some of the potholes pictured have loose material in and in some cases the edging bricks have come away or been damaged. This loose material gets removed from the holes by passing traffic each day and they get larger. Caernarvon Road was fully resurfaced not too long ago and it would be advantageous to get these problems aligned and resurfaced too to save damage to cars or they get significantly degraded not allowing suitable access. I will also submit a further ticket for the dip in the road. Thank you.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a pothole.

First, a safety inspector will visit the location to assess whether a repair needs to be completed and plan the work needed. Works are prioritised based on the urgency of the situation. The council aim to repair all significant potholes (more than 4cm deep and 30cm wide) within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

We will provide updates about this report.

  • This pothole report has now been passed to the Safety Inspection Team for assessment.

A safety inspector will make an assessment of the work needed and they will consider a number of factors, including the flow of traffic and the size of the pothole.

If repair work is required, the pothole will either be classed as urgent or will be put into a planned programme of works to ensure it is repaired as efficiently as possible. We aim to complete the repair work within 28 days.

In some cases a temporary repair will be needed, to make the area safe, then engineers will return to make a permanent repair.

An update on the outcome of the safety inspection will be provided.
