Unsafe pedestrian access to bus stop from Ramada Oxford M40 / Welcome Break site
Reported via mobile in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Frankie Andersen-Wood at 00:10, Friday 29 May 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9524023.
There appears to be no safe pedestrian route from the Ramada Oxford M40 / Welcome Break site to the nearby bus stop.
Oxford City Council is using the Ramada hotel as temporary accommodation for homeless households, including families with children. Residents need to access public transport for appointments, schools, healthcare, shops and other essential services, but there does not appear to be a safe crossing or continuous pavement route to the bus stop.
This means vulnerable residents, including parents with children, may be forced to walk along unsafe routes or cross busy roads without proper pedestrian provision.
Please could Oxfordshire County Council urgently assess this location and advise what immediate and longer-term safety measures can be put in place, such as:
A safe pedestrian route from the hotel/site to the bus stop
A safe crossing point
Pavement/footway improvements
Temporary signage, barriers or traffic-calming measures
Any interim measures needed while a permanent solution is considered
I would be grateful if this could be treated as urgent because people are currently being accommodated at this site and may need to use public transport regularly.
