Investigating
Recent excavation by SSEN poorly repaired
Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:36, Saturday 23 May 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9496163.
A recent excavation by SSEN resulted in a large trench being dug across Station Road. Although this has been filled, the repair is of a poor standard. The filling is actually below the road surface, and the edges have not been sealed. As a result, the first heavy rain will drain down and after a short period of time, a large pothole will result. Is there any way the County Council can exert pressure on SSEN to finish the repair properly?

I have attached photos. As can be seen, the repair is of poor quality, with unsealed edges, and below the original road surface. Water will get in, and winter freezing will result in a large pothole across a road which is heavily used, and was recently resurfaced and in good condition. SSEN, who dug this trench, should be compelled to repair it to an acceptable standard.
