Manhole cover bouncing and making excessive noise.

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 19:12, Wednesday 20 May 2026

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9483971.

I think it has just been repaired but the problem has continued. The lid is bouncing every time a vehicle goes over it.

Updates

  • PLEASE HELP (if you haven't already)! If this was Lincolnshire, then Lincolnshire County Council would be providing prompt, comprehensive, and publicly-available updates to this report, right here on the FixMyStreet website, for everybody to see. Unfortunately, Norfolk County Council don't do that (and they even try to discourage people from actually using FixMyStreet)! Please SIGN THE PETITITION, to urge Norfolk County Council to start collaborating with FixMyStreet, in the same way as Lincolnshire County Council is doing (as well as other places, e.g. Oxfordshire)! PETITION WEB ADDRESS: https://c.org/ Nd7gcrX4Bk (A big thankyou to everybody who has signed the petition so far. We've already got over 350 signatures, but let's keep going, to really make an impact on make Norfolk County Council!)

  • Someone has been out to 'fix' this but the manhole cover is bouncing again. It is continuous and needs a better solution as it is too near a pedestrian safety crossing point to be allowed to 'bed in' properly after work has been done.
