Dear Sir/Madam, We are the joint owners and residents of 71 Murray Avenue, Bromley, Kent, BR1 3DJ, and we wish to formally report a longstanding issue caused by mature trees situated on Council-owned land directly behind our rear garden boundary. Over a number of years, large branches from these trees have extended significantly over our fence line and, during windy weather, have repeatedly fallen into our garden. We have consistently cleared the fallen branches and debris ourselves. However, the repeated impact and weight from these branches have progressively weakened and now severely damaged our rear boundary fence, which has partially collapsed. We would also like to bring to your attention that we are elderly residents aged over 80 and 76. We are no longer physically able to continue clearing heavy fallen branches or managing the consequences of this ongoing problem. The situation therefore presents a particular safety concern for us and is becoming increasingly difficult to cope with. This is not an isolated or recent incident but the result of ongoing overhang and insufficient pruning of trees on the Council’s side. We understand that neighbours previously raised similar concerns with the Council some years ago, and inspections were undertaken at that time. Unfortunately, the issue has continued and has now resulted in substantial fence failure. The matter now presents: • A property damage issue directly attributable to falling branches from Council land • A safety risk to anyone using our garden • A situation that will continue to worsen unless the trees are properly cut back We respectfully request that the Council: 1.
