The no entry signage at the eastern end of New Bond Street outside Anthropologie is not visible early enough to traffic driving north from High Street as it becomes Northgate Street. There is a no entry sign on the left hand side of the left hand carriageway of New Bond Street, as viewed from Northgate Street, just outside Anthropologie, but this is only visible to drivers at the last minute. There is a need for a no entry sign to the right hand side of that left hand carriageway, so that drivers who are unfamiliar with the road layout and one way system see the no entry signs at an earlier point.

I have explained what is wrong in my summary of the problem above. By way of example of the types of incident that this problem causes, I was coming out of Waitrose last week onto Northgate Street and I observed a vehicle drive west into New Bond Street from the southern end of Northgate Street, the wrong way. The driver of the vehicle patently did not realise that it is not permitted to enter New Bond Street from that direction. The driver angrily hooted his horn at a pedestrian who, at the time, was walking north across the pedestrian crossing at that junction, when the pedestrian signal would have been indicating green, from Anthropologie to the traffic island in the middle of the junction. The pedestrian, whom I spoke to, was unharmed but clearly shaken. I did not have an opportunity to catch up with the driver.
