Footpath covered with lichen/algae and very slippery

Reported via desktop in the Weeds category anonymously at 15:31, Wednesday 13 May 2026

Sent to West Northamptonshire Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9447212.

I have had repeated complaunts from villagers about this path along the south side of the A425, which is extensively covered in a layer of lichen/moss/alga (all I know is it green) which makes walkign on the footpath, especially in damp or wet weather, perilous. It's not a huge job and would probably be resolved by jet washing the surface.

  • I used the footpath to Staverton recently from the new housing development. It is in a very poor state. I was relieved I did not have children with me or even a buggy to push. Traffic travels very fast along this road . 30-40 years ago , when on the pavement I had a dog sucked under a speeding lorry and killed.i don’t think the lorry driver even realised what had happened but the following car stopped and confirmed the dog had not gone into the road. Walking children to Staverton school along the path would be an accident waiting to happen.
