Pothole on wheel line at junction

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 13:16, Sun 18 December 2016

Sent to Trafford Borough Council 4 minutes later

I have reported the pothole to your outsourced department Amey, however they responded this would not be a priority and will not be repaired.

However, the pothole is on the vehicle wheel line at the traffic lights. Every large vehicle which pulls up to the traffic lights causes my home to shake. The route is on the main bus routes and there is a bus every six minutes which is disturbing my home life. I would like you to investigate and organise a repair.

  • Hi,

I will also report to One Trafford (Amey). Normally a pothole on the carriageway has to be more than 40mm deep before they will repair it. Regards Councillor Barry Brothertn

  • I appreciate that there are normal rules to the depth.

However, this pothole is on a major bus route through Sale and I can't even sit at home without my house vibrating every six minutes. There must be other circumstances where repairs will be considered?

  • Hi,

I have reported to One Trafford and stressed that this pothole is causing vibration which is a real nuisance to nearby residents.

    Regards, Barry Brotherton

  • Hi, Below is the response I have just received from One Trafford (Amey/Trafford Council). Regards Barry Brotherton

Dear Councillor Brotherton The highways team have inspected this and have raised an order for a “definite” pothole to be repaired which should alleviate the problem as they did witness a number of buses actually hitting the area in question. There is an old trench right across the road that may still result in slight disturbances being experienced but nothing actually actionable at this moment in time.

  • Councillor, many thanks for your proactive response.

Could you let me know the anticipated timetable for repair?

  • Hi, Unfortunately they didn't give me a timescale for the repair. It is unlikely that anything will happen during the Christmas / New Year break but I will contact them again if nothing has been done by, say, mid-January. Regards, Barry Brotherton

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 16:01, Wed 18 January 2017

  • The pot hole has not been filled in fully. See attached photo.

  • The pothole has formed again from an inadequate repair last year.

This problem is now causing problems from 05:07am when the first 41 bus starts, causing me to wake up. Subsequent shakes from the wheel impact occur every five minutes throughout the day until the evening timetable starts.

If future repairs do occur, please can the council ensure the repair is adequate, the repair to the previous pothole by the contractor was poor.
