Vehicle has been here 2 weeks, rear is about 1 metre out from keb in the mouth of junction with Tubbenden Lane blocking car and bus traffic and across dropped kerb for wheelchair users. Someone came early last week and removed most of the payload but did not take up offer of aassistance. Said recovery would come in a couple of days - not yet. Updates

  • Thank you for your report, this is now being investigated. Information on our services and the timeframes we aim to respond in can be found: http://www.bromley.gov.uk/ fixservices

    State changed to: In progress

  • We have investigated this report and found the vehicle to be taxed; a taxed vehicle is a strong indicator of an interested party and therefore the vehicle is not considered to be abandoned at this time and no further action will be taken. You can check the tax status of a vehicle online via: https://www.gov.uk/ check-vehicle-tax. Insurance or MOT issues should be directed to the Police as Bromley do not have the statutory powers to deal with this type of offence.

State changed to: No further action

  • The vehicle cited, a long bed works pickup truck, is parked close to the junction with the rear 1.4m from the centre of the road and under 7m from the edge of Tubbenden Lane, about 1m out from the kerb. The windscreen is broken and there are numerous points of body damage. Traffic is obliged to drive into Beechcroft road on the righthandside of the road meeting oncoming buses, cars and cyclists head on whilst squeezing through the narrows of other properly parked vehicles in the road and dodging the already reported potholes. I appreciate the comments about VED and MOT which I had already established in the initial report. I would suggest an appointed council representative visits the site.

    State changed to: Open

  • I regret that Bromley has the powers to deal with abandoned or untaxed vehicles only. Insurance, MOT and obstruction issues should be directed to the Police as we do not have the statutory powers to deal with this type of offence. We are unable to assist further at this point in time.

  • The vehicle has now been here for six weeks and has a PCN affixed. I approached the police who advised this problem is for resolution by Bromley Council and is not a police matter. I attch their response: Thank you for contacting The Metropolitan Police Service. This vehicle is not of interest to The Metropolitan Police. Therefore, you may wish to contact the abandoned vehicle department at your local authority to assist. The details have been logged (REF CHS 32351 03JUN26) for future reference.

  • An officer will visit the vehicle to inspect and determine its legality but currently it is lawfully Taxed and MOT'd abandoned.

The owner will be reminded to take action and responsibility for the vehicle.
