I am writing to request an inspection of a mature tree located immediately outside the rear gate of my property at 18 Snowbell Square, NN3 5HH. The tree is positioned very close to my boundary and has developed a wide, dense canopy that significantly overhangs my property and the area where I park my vehicle. As a result, I am experiencing ongoing issues including: - Regular accumulation of bird droppings, sap, and debris on my vehicle, which is causing damage to the paintwork - Continuous debris fall requiring frequent clearing of the surrounding area - Concern regarding the proximity of the tree to my fence, which was newly installed only a couple of years ago and may be at risk of damage
In addition, the extent of the canopy is contributing to substantial shading of my garden and roof. I have invested significantly in installing solar panels in an effort to reduce energy usage and support environmental sustainability; however, the level of shading from the tree is limiting their effectiveness.
Since moving into the property in 2012, I am not aware of any pruning or maintenance having been carried out on this tree, and it appears to have grown considerably over time.
Given the above, I would be grateful if you could:
- Confirm whether this tree is owned and maintained by the council - Arrange for an inspection - Consider appropriate maintenance, such as crown reduction, thinning, or pruning, to manage the overhang and associated issues
I have attached photographs to illustrate the location of the tree, its proximity to my property, and the extent of the overhang.
Please let me know if you require any further information.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
