Road Defects

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 11:02, Friday 8 May 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9420191.

Around the area marked are multiple areas where the road sinks near the curb. As a result of this traffic that drives by potentially causes damage to vehicles but buses and double decker buses driving down this road causes traffic-induced vibration or airborne vibration.

Heavy vehicles (buses/trucks) that pass by are creating a high-pressure gust of wind. This moving "air mass" strikes the side of the house, causing walls and windows to vibrate, often leading to a rattling or buzzing sound and it is starting to damage the house.

Can the road be looked at? The defects in the road running past the house be repaired or can the road be changed to either a 20MPH road or speed humps being placed along the road, next to the house to help deviate this issue.

  • However ground borne vibration is mostly the root cause of this problem, especially to the house of 14 windrush close which has commented on this issue a lot of the time and has mentioned internal cracks and damage to the structure of the property as a result of this issue.

Please address the issue with brereton drive, re-tarmac the area addressed so the property being mentioned no longer has issues from the ground borne vibration from buses, heavy goods vehicles and double decker buses.
