  • Thank you for your enquiry. LBB do not prune trees interfering with utility cables or phone lines. This policy is based on the 1984 Telecommunications Act whereby service providers are obligated to maintain their network in good working condition using the monthly fees customers pay.

    • In the case of phone cables, please contact OpenReach. • In the case of power cables, contact UKPN.

These companies are responsible for the repair and upkeep of their cable network including pruning back of street trees. They have specialist utility arboriculture teams to work near these lines which may involve the temporary disconnection of services. Bromley Council contractors do not clear or work around any overhead cables.

Please refer to the Tree Management Strategy for further information on the care of Council owned trees: Tree management strategy - Foreword - Tree management strategy - 2023 to 2027 Please note that as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy (tree-management-strategy-2023-to-2027 (bromley.gov.uk) the Council will not prune trees in relation to the following: • Tree size, where a tree is judged to be • Lack of light: there is no ‘Right to light’ (or shade) in British law.overly large.
