Vertical metal lip on leading edge of bridge

Reported via desktop in the Potholes and maintenance category by John Tranter at 09:05, Wednesday 6 May 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9406646.

There is a wooden bridge built recently as part of the Icknield Way cycle commuting path between Wantage and the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus. Coming from the west (Wantage) side, there is a steep slope down to the bridge and the soil and loose stones have eroded so there is now an exposed vertical metal lip on the edge of the bridge about 30mm high. This is very dangerous as it can catch a bike wheel and throw off the rider. I had heard of at least one injury as a result of this and several other bike commuters have mentioned the risk. It urgently needs to be built up so there is a smooth transition between the path and the bridge.
