The drain cover is broken when cars drive over it makes a loud banging noise twice as the metal cover is loose

Reported via mobile in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 23:26, Sunday 3 May 2026

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9394355.

The metal drain cover is in the road opposite the yard for lorries. Its right where the car wheels go over. It makes such a loud baning noise two times, the metal lid is being lifted when the cars drive over. Ive reported twice to Norfolk County Council, they say they're going to fix it but dont. When its really late at night you hear it bad and when it's busy in day, ill get a video

Updates

  • PLEASE HELP (if you haven't already)! If this was Lincolnshire, then Lincolnshire County Council would be providing prompt, comprehensive, and publicly-available updates to this report, right here on the FixMyStreet website, for everybody to see. Unfortunately, Norfolk County Council don't do that (and they even try to discourage people from actually using FixMyStreet)! Please SIGN THE PETITITION, to urge Norfolk County Council to start collaborating with FixMyStreet, in the same way as Lincolnshire County Council is doing (as well as other places, e.g. Oxfordshire)! PETITION WEB ADDRESS: https://c.org/ Nd7gcrX4Bk (A big thankyou to everybody who has signed the petition so far. We've already got over 300 signatures, but let's keep going, to really make an impact on make Norfolk County Council!)
