Abandon caravans

Reported via mobile in the A vehicle left on public road for over two months category by Lesley c at 17:08, Thursday 30 April 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9380887.

I am writing to formally report an abandoned Hobby Excellent Easy caravan that has been rotting at this location for over three years. What began as an eyesore has now spiraled into a neighborhood nightmare and a significant public safety hazard.

For over 1,000 days, this "ghost caravan" has been left to decompose. It is no longer a vehicle; it is a biohazard. The exterior is caked in thick grime and green algae, and the windows are permanently shrouded, creating a sinister "blind spot" on our street. Most alarmingly, someone has crudely bolted a rusted metal plate over one of the side windows (as seen in the photos), which looks less like a repair and more like a scene from a horror film.

The issues this caravan is causing are severe and escalating:

1. Arson and Fire Risk: The front hitch area is currently being used as a dumping ground for suspicious liquids. There is a plastic chemical container sitting right on the frame (see Image 3). In a residential area, this is a ticking time bomb for arson.

2. Vermin Infestation: The long grass and weeds growing through the chassis (Image 2) have created a luxury hotel for rats and foxes. We can no longer let our children play nearby for fear of infestation.

3. Anti-Social Magnet: Because it has been ignored for three years, it sends a signal that our street is unmonitored. It has become a magnet for fly-tipping and "dark corner" activities.

4. Structural Instability: The unit is propped up on crumbling bricks and uneven ground. If one of these gives way, the entire caravan could roll or topple onto a passing pedestrian or a parked car.

This is not just a "parked vehicle." It is an abandoned, rusted, and dangerous structure that has been colonizing our public space since 2021. The neighborhood has reached its breaking point. We shouldn't have to wait for it to be set on fire or for the structural supports to fail before the council takes action.

Please arrange for this hazardous waste to be towed and scrapped immediately. We want our street back.
