Investigating
Dangerous pavement
Reported via mobile in the Footways and Pavement damage category by Christopher Allinson at 06:32, Wednesday 22 April 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9333366.
I reported this pavement outside my house almost 2 years ago. It’s dangerously uneven and has failed as in many parts.
The sub base has failed in parts which has led to the tarmac to move and crack and lift.
There’s are large areas of vegetation growing out of it (grass & weeds). Rather than a solid sub base underneath, where its failed, tarmac has lifted and soil/vegetation has found its way in.
I know this area has been reported many times. It’s the worst pavement by some distance in Bampton. Whilst I appreciate it doesn’t have the footfall of Witney high street, it should still be addressed asap.
Hopefully after your last inspection (22 months ago) you can visit and change your opinion on its condition.
I live at 29 Mercury Close. I hope start inspection there and then make your way around the close. It’s condition largely is consistently terrible/failed
Hope for a different outcome this time
