Manhole cover outside The Old Priest House

Reported via mobile in the Manhole category anonymously at 17:23, Tuesday 21 April 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9331863.

This has been repaired before but had not been long lasting. The area around the manhole cover has eroded. The A4310 is an extremely busy road. All traffic makes a noise as it sinks into the dip and the manhole rattles badly. We live in a listed building and the vibrations cannot be good for the house whose frontage is close the road. It is also causing significant sleep disturbance for those using the front bedrooms. Please can you deal with this urgently.

  • Here is a better picture of the manhole cover with the sunken edges. The vibration and sounds is getting worse by the day.

  • I have, in the last few weeks made 2 calls to Highways, first to Pamela and more recently to Malcolm, to find if there is any news on the repair of the manhole cover. I have received no feedback and the problem is getting worse. Please advise as the noise and vibrations are getting worse
