Speeding
Reported in the Roads/highways category by Barrie Wheatley at 14:40, Thu 24 November 2016
Sent to Somerset Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 932328.
20mph limit is continuously broken in St Michaels Avenue Yeovil. This is on a road which has several feeder roads FROM 30mph side roads from housing estates and three schools. There are signs at the top and bottom of St Michaels, but because it is a long road it really needs repeater signs to remind drivers of the limits. I have reported this several times over the past years but it does not appear to be legally enforcable .It is also odd that some of the housing estates have 30mph limits but the main [St Michaels] anenue is 20mph so drivers tend to miss/ignor the 20mph signs.

There are now two new CO-OP stores in this road which has increased traffic flow. There are three schools and many side roads with varying speed limits just to confuse people.

Nothing has changed, traffic continues to speed up and down St Michaels Avenue. It is getting worse rather than better and I can foresee the day when a child, or an older person, not too aware, gets knocked over and injured, or killed!"

The problem has not yet been fixed although my town & district councillor has said that he will try.

I am annoyed at the time that it is taking to sort this problem, Many motorists are still speeding both up and down St.Michaels Avenue. I am still waiting for an accident to happen, particularly with the increased traffic flow due to the two CO-OP stores that have recently opened.

I have discussed the problem with my local Councillor who promised action and mentioned it in his last ward leaflet. However the local election may have held things up. I am still waiting !

Totally agree. Cars travelling in the area around the Greenhill Road junction are often over 30. A crossing needs to be installed around this area as often children are crossing the road to go to the schools around the area

My councilor has told me that he has set wheels in motion but that it could take a little while.
