Investigating
Dangerous overgrown hedge right at the road bend

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9320869.
Willowdene house sits right where the road bends and you can’t see incoming traffic. The Kingston Bagpuize/ Southmoor boundary stone is just outside. Big trucks and buses drive past this busy main road. They have allowed their hedge to grow out significantly past their boundary line making it very dangerous when walking past, particularly with children. My son got stuck in it this weekend when riding his scoot and almost had to put a foot down on the road. In one of the photos I put a red line to show how much over their boundary line the hedge has grown, which will get worse during the summer months. We need the owner to be requested to trim it back to the level of the fence that lies underneath.

Please can something be done about this property hedge now taking half the width of the pavement? This is now URGENT: * forcing pedestrians into roadway, * impaired sightlines on bend, * wheelchair/pushchair obstruction, * Equality Act accessibility issue.

The hedge has now been cut back to improve clearance on the pavement. However, following a survey, two active nesting birds were identified within the hedge. As a result, we are not able to carry out any further or more aggressive cutting at this stage, as we must comply with our obligations under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, which protects active wild bird nests. A further, more substantial cut-back has therefore been scheduled for 1st September, subject to a final check confirming that the nests are no longer active.
