Dangerous junction
Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 20:39, Thu 17 November 2016
Sent to Leicestershire County Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 928776.
Due to speeding vehicles on the east bound A6 joining the road is dangerous from the old London Rd as the slip road is too short. Can the speed limit be reduced on the A6 from national limit to 50 mph and a speed camera be installed near the Burton lodge farm bridge facing east.

Reply from Leicestershire county council on 25th November 2016;
The slip road is short at this point and for this reason drivers need to show more caution when they enter onto the A6. When looking at reducing the speed limit or making any changes we need to take an evidence led approach and look at any recorded injury accidents at this location. Within the past 5 years there have been two accidents with vehicles coming onto the A6.
Looking at the details given for these incidents and the number of vehicles that use this slip road we wouldn’t consider this sufficient justification for reducing the speed limit to 50mph on this section of road on what is a main trunk road.
People in Great Glen do have the option, all be it with a detour, of entering onto the A6 via the roundabout at Great Glen if they feel that the London Road slip road is unsafe to use.
