Holes and loose gravel make road extremely dangerous

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 09:24, Saturday 11 April 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9274441.

I have received a notification that this problem has now been fixed. However, in a stretch of 15yards, one hole has been filled….!!! There are numerous potholes, but there is also loose gravel, which means that this part of the road is full of ridges and it is very hard to determine where the dips are. It is difficult to drive along this stretch and is exceedingly dangerous for cyclists. (I no longer risk cycling this route to get from Goring to Woodcote - so I have to drive instead - along an alternative route) This road has been in a poor condition for years - the gravel needs to be removed and the road resurfaced.

  • This part of the road has been in a dreadful state for many years, but in the last year it has become dangerous, especially to cyclists. Some minor repairs were carried out recently when other parts of the lane were addressed - however, this isn’t about potholes - the whole area is full of deep dips, loose gravel etc. It has again become impossible to know how to navigate it, and is especially dangerous in the dark. Please will someone inspect it properly and decide how the whole width of this area can be fixed properly - and as soon as possible.
