Permanent parking on junction pavement
Reported via mobile in the Car parking category anonymously at 18:13, Monday 6 April 2026
Sent to Newport Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9247110.
These 2 vehicles are almost permanently parked as per photos provided as evidence since the owners moved into the property at number 11 on Windsor Castle Drive. They have two parking spaces and four vehicles (!) parked right next to the property on the pavement & one being a large Luton van as per photo which are very rarely moved if not ever over the past months/year. People (i.e. dog walkers) are walking on the road to get past as there is no space to walk on the pavement. There is obstructed visibility at the junction and this becomes hazardous when two cars arrive at the same time. There are delivery vans in and out of the road sometimes at speed. It is clearly a question of time until an accident happens to either vehicles or a pedestrian. There are several free parking spaces where the van could easily park on Monmouth Castle Drive, a few metres away (!) which would be much safer. The car should be parked in a safer position away from the junction. This has been ongoing for a long time and it is causing alarm and distress to the residents. It is a close knit community where residents use their drives or park sensibly respecting the neighbourhood to keep the environment safe.

This is the other car which is almost permanently parked outside of number 11 on the junction pavement in front of the van. There should be double yellow lines to stop this happening and the 2 additional vehicles of this household should park appropriately without causing hazards for members of the public, the large commercial van could park on Monmouth Castle Drive in the appropriate additional parking spaces or on their own drive (!). A number of residents have been complaining about this problem.

No it has not been fixed. In fact it is frustrating everyone in the neighbourhood and it is appalling that no one has been on site to investigate it. We have even witness mothers with prams having to walk into the middle of the road because there is no space on the pavement.
