Trip hazard-paving blocks lifted.

Reported via mobile in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 12:51, Sunday 5 April 2026

Sent to Newport Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9242044.

The paving blocks adjacent to a large tree have started to lift creating a trip hazard for passers by and myself as it’s right outside my front gate. I am elderly and unstable when walking. Two are loose so far; more may loosen if left unrepaired. I am guessing it’s the tree roots as there is evidence of previous tarmac repairs to the pavement here.

Updates

  • No works have been carried out. The paving stone is still lifted up.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • An elderly gentleman tripped over this in the first week of May. He broke his nose and attended A&E. I rang the council and reported the accident and the paving issues and was given this reference : 26132399 Highway Defect. Still nothing has been done.
