Dissatisfaction with previous report response and factually incorrect

Reported via mobile in the The drain is blocked category anonymously at 18:16, Monday 30 March 2026 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Gloucestershire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9214076.

As per my previous report the drains outside my house have been blocked for 18 months and your response to my report was incorrect. I have copied your answer to my complaint and my response below

Dear Craig

Absolutely NO maintenance or clearing of the drains took place as you detail. As in my initial report I stated that this maintenance had only cleared the other side of the road and had not returned. We have NOT had drains cleared for two years.

As initially requested can you please clear our drains or I will take it up with the local MP - I have to email you every year to request clearage as you never do them. Maybe you can check your schedule to ensure they are listed on the road as they were not originally there, your records will show that they were installed a few years ago after issues.

Dear Ms Sadler, Thank you for your email regarding the condition of the gullies outside no. 5 Horcott Road. I have checked our maintenance records, and the last cyclical cleanse of the gullies in this location took place on 24/10/2025. Our cyclical programme operates on an annual April–April schedule, so Horcott Road is included within that routine maintenance cycle. In addition to this, I will raise a works order for our Visual Impact crew to attend and carry out a further cleanse. They will clear and rod through both gullies you have reported—the one outside your front gate and the second at the end of your driveway. This work will now be passed to our contractors to schedule into their programme. Regarding the condition of the broken grid and the presence of cones/sandbag, I have included this in the job notes so the attending crew can assess and take appropriate action. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and I appreciate your patience. If you notice any further issues in the meantime, please do let me know. <

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting a drainage or flooding issue.

We will investigate the issue. If additional clearance work is needed, the local highways team will prioritise the most urgent reports. Where possible, maintenance tasks will be grouped together in a schedule for efficiency.

Sometimes during periods of heavy rain, even a clear gully can be overwhelmed. Usually the water will drain away within an hour.

Every gully or drain the county council is responsible for is cleared at least once each year. Some drains in problem areas are cleared more frequently. You can find out more, including the gully emptying schedule on our website by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/roads/road-maintenance

If your property is at risk of flooding please see the Flood Guide for advice and support by visiting www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flood-risk-management/flooding-information/flood-guide

If you are driving: please never ignore road closures or enter flood water. This could put you or others in danger and invalidate your insurance.

We will provide updates about this report. Thank you again for taking the time to report this issue.
