Hire bikes being left on pavement / against library railings

Reported via desktop in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 19:39, Sunday 29 March 2026

Sent to Glasgow City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9208148.

Since the introduction of these new, much heavier, hire bikes, people have taken to leaving them a) across the pavement b) propped up against the library railings. The latter has started chipping the paintwork which, if not stopped, will eventually invite rust and a return to the deterioration seen before those railings were replaced just a few year ago.

Accordingly, please arrange to put up a warning sign on the library railings and get the hire company to remind hirers at this spot not to leave their bikes either lying about or propped up on the railings. Thanks.
