Footpath poor and unsafe state

Reported via mobile anonymously at 07:08, Friday 27 March 2026

Sent to East Hertfordshire District Council and Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9195812.

The footpath is currently in a poor and unsafe condition due to a lack of regular maintenance.

Vegetation along the route is significantly overgrown. Trees and hedges have not been properly managed, with ivy spreading extensively and causing damage to trees. Brambles and stinging nettles have encroached onto the footpath, obstructing access and posing a risk to users.

This path is frequently used by children on foot and bicycles, who are at risk of injury from brambles and stinging nettles extending into the walkway.

In addition, the footpath surface is becoming obscured by a build-up of fallen leaves that have not been cleared, making the route difficult to see and navigate. Weeds are also growing through the paving, further indicating a lack of upkeep.

Overall, the footpath is deteriorating and requires regular, proactive maintenance rather than infrequent attention only after issues are reported to the council.( Although latest requests have been ignored for for a year)
