Tree replacement

Good morning,

There was a beautiful blossom tree which fell down some storms a few years back. The tree was replaced by a metal sign post which we were told would be temporary yet there hasn’tnt been a tree planted again. I made a request in March last year reference 7324054and was told that you would co sided replacing the tree this year- please could you look into this and update us if possible.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Please accept our apologies. We have unfortunately ended for the last season (November 25 - March 26) which I can see from the planting teams notes they were unable to replant due to street signage. A replacement has been added to the next planting schedule (November 26 - March 27) and this enquiry referred to HW's to assess the feasibility of removing the sign post and reinstating the old tree pit.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Highways have confirmed that they have raised works to relocate the signpost which will be completed under their standard time frames. Works have been issued to the arb contractor, estimated to be completed within 3 months to install a stake in the empty tree pit. In line with Policy 4 of the Council’s Tree Management Strategy, the Council will seek to plant a replacement tree where one has been removed. This is subject to the ongoing viability of the location, including factors such as site constraints, underground services and species suitability, as well as the availability of resources at the time of planting. Where viable, replacement planting is typically undertaken within the following two planting seasons which are generally between November and March, and requests are therefore considered and scheduled within this seasonal programme rather than on an immediate basis.
