Zebra Crossing Repair Required

The zebra crossing at Montesson Square/North Street is in a seriously poor state of repair. It is likely one of the busiest crossings in Thame, yet the surface is badly uneven and the markings have almost completely worn away.

The road has been patched repeatedly, leaving a rough and inconsistent surface. This creates a real hazard at what should be a safe crossing point, particularly for wheelchair users, people using mobility aids, and anyone who is unsteady on their feet.

This issue has been reported to OCC Highways several times, but no meaningful action has been taken.

This is not a minor maintenance issue. It is a clear safety concern at a heavily used crossing.

Please treat this as a priority and carry out a proper repair, including resurfacing and reinstating the markings, before someone is injured.

  • I notice that some workmen added some more patches of tarmac to the road around the crossing on 30 April. This has done nothing to improve the condition of the crossing itself, although the patches have served to further obscure the road markings. Please advise if there are any plans to resurface and repaint the crossing properly.

  • I’m wondering what is the purpose of this website? So many comments from the public, none of which seem to elicit any action from you - even just the courtesy of a reply would be an improvement.     This crossing is getting quite dangerous now as although tarmac has been patched the white zebra crossing marks are not all there so traffic doesn't always see it of stop.
