  • This matter has now been reported multiple times under:

    • FixMyStreet ref: 9176212 • Richmond Council enquiry: 50130539 • FixMyStreet ref: 9430618

The issue was originally reported on 24/03/2026 and later marked as fixed following what appears to have been only a brief inspection.

However, after a closer examination of the location, it became apparent that this is not the case. A considerable quantity of teal-coloured safety glass shards from the smashed vehicle window still remains present across the carriageway and along the edge of the road surface.

To improve immediate safety, a narrow passage has now been manually swept clear to one side so that school children cycling through this route towards the A316 cycle path can pass more safely. Nevertheless, the remaining debris still requires a proper mechanical sweep and full removal.

Unfortunately the hazard is not merely cosmetic. My child recently had to walk her bicycle home from school after suffering a puncture consistent with riding through the still-present glass fragments at this location.

Given the amount of visible debris that still remains, there are understandable concerns regarding the level of the previous inspection and clean-up.
