Overgrown path

Reported via Android in the Footpaths/ Rights of way (usually not tarmac) category anonymously at 17:28, Friday 20 March 2026

Sent to Norfolk County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9156554.

This section of Gillingham FP 2 is heavily overgrown by Blackthorn suckers making very difficult or impossible to walk. These suckers had been insuffiently cut back and really should be grubbed out. Added to this the close up ploughing has thrown up large clods or earth that add to the difficulty. I spent a long time guiding my brother, who is blind, through this arduous obstacle course. My brother suggested the person responsible for the upkeep of the path should be made to wear a blind-fold and try to walk this path!

Updates

  • PLEASE HELP (if you haven't already)! If this was Lincolnshire, then Lincolnshire County Council would be providing prompt, comprehensive, and publicly-available updates to this report, right here on the FixMyStreet website, for everybody to see. Unfortunately, Norfolk County Council don't do that (and they even try to discourage people from actually using FixMyStreet)! Please SIGN THE PETITITION, to urge Norfolk County Council to start collaborating with FixMyStreet, in the same way as Lincolnshire County Council is doing (as well as other places, e.g. Oxfordshire)! PETITION WEB ADDRESS: https://c.org/ Nd7gcrX4Bk (A big thankyou to everybody who has signed the petition so far. We've already exceeded 165 signatures, but let's keep going, to really make an impact on make Norfolk County Council!)
