Reported via Android in the A vehicle left on public road for over two months category anonymously at 10:18, Thursday 19 March 2026

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9145755.

This van has been here for months Falling to pieces. No MOT. Could be prime target for vandals to set on fire.

Updates

  • A new enquiry has been raised for this issue.

  • This LDV white van has a handwritten sign inside the windscreen which reads: "Do not remove. Not abandoned I will call Council. Flat battery - will repair soon. Notice - vehicle is road legal". It is not road legal since its MoT expired 23 Oct 2020. And how long does it take to fix a flat battery? It was initially seen in Sea Mills Lane, where Newlyn Avenue joins it, in December 2025, and has been opposite the Mill House pub for the last three weeks.

  • This van is still present. There is utility works programmed for this area in late April and this can not commence until the vehicle is moved.

  • Still there - I left a note asking them to at least move the vehicle back a little, as it's causing a bottle neck (especially with buses trying to get through) sitting opposite a commercial vehicle (tow truck) that is also being parked there; the note was removed and the van has not been moved.

  • Still there. Getting in the way. Creating meeting situations, slowing down this very busy road.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • Vehicle is taxed & therefore legally permitted to be parked on any highway with no parking restrictions. MoT only required whilst vehicle is being driven.

  • Parking a car on a public road in the UK is treated exactly the same as driving it—your vehicle must be insured, taxed, and covered by a valid MOT certificate: https://vehiclescore.co.uk/ mot-check/ can-you-park-a-car-on-the-roads-without-a-valid-mot-certificate

  • Here's another one from the police:

Please note: you can only report a vehicle with no MOT if it’s being used (driven or parked) on a public road.

  • It's still here. 4+ months on. Now in the way if the roadworks that are taking place right now. Surround by cones, getting in more peoples way. How is this allowed to stay here! It hasn't had an MOT for almost 6 years! So whoever drove it here was breaking the law, if that's really your argument as to not moving it.

  • Pretty sure all those markings are where the roads going to be dug up soon. And the van seems to be in the way.

  • Still there. Why are BCC not removing illegal vehicles?? Plenty of reports for this vehicle over a significant time now.
