Dangerously faded "Give Way" markings

Reported via desktop in the Road traffic signs category anonymously at 16:45, Monday 16 March 2026

Sent to Torbay Borough Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9117648.

The "Give Way" road markings at the junction of Upton Road and Teignmouth Road, where Upton Road meets the Torre one-way system, are badly worn and almost invisible to drivers approaching on Upton Road. As a result, vehicles keep failing to give way to traffic already circulating on the one way system, and I have personally experienced two near-misses in the last few days. I parked yesterday to take pictures highlighting the issue. This needs urgent repainting before it causes traffic collisions (if it hasn't already done so).

  • 14/4/26: Nothing changed as at 14:30 today. Was issued a reference number on 17/3/26, so Highways are definitely aware of the issue. Given that markings are almost invisible when surface is wet, and I witnessed another near-miss today, one hopes they get the paintbrushes out sooner rather than later!
