There is a layby in Ham Lane which has a sign erected saying 'parking for numbers 44 - 50 Ham Lane only'. This sign has no legal standing, as it is a public road, and residents do not have any control over the roadside parking outside their homes, save for avoidance of blocking driveways etc. I don't know when this sign was erected, or even if it was put up by the council, but it is being used by some local residents to 'police' the area in an aggressive and confrontational manner. Please can the sign be removed and the residents of Ham Lane be advised that this is a public road and that parking cannot be restricted.
