Safety concern regarding abandoned ambulance causing dangerous blind spot at Elliott Road junction

There is an old ambulance that has been parked on the street for several years without being moved. The vehicle appears to be abandoned as a road vehicle and is instead being used as storage for the owner's business. In the five years that I have lived on this street, the ambulance has never been driven or moved from its position. The ambulance is parked directly at the T-junction leading onto Elliott Road. Due to its large size, it creates a significant blind spot for drivers attempting to turn onto the road. This results in dangerous situations and near-collisions between vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. Close calls occur multiple times a day because drivers cannot clearly see oncoming traffic when exiting the junction. Additionally a large portion of the rear of the vehicle extends over the double yellow lines at the junction. These restrictions are clearly in place to maintain visibility and allow safe turning onto Elliott Road. The presence of this large vehicle defeats the purpose of those markings and further increases the risk of accidents. The vehicle is also used for storage related to the owner's business. When items are loaded and unloaded, the items frequently block the pavement. This forces pedestrians, including elderly people, women, and children, to step into the road in order to pass, creating an additional safety hazard. According to the UK government guidance: “You must make sure your vehicle has a valid MOT certificate if it is over 3 years old and you want to use it on the road.” Given that this ambulance has not been moved or driven for at least five years and appears visibly run down, it raises concerns about whether the vehicle has a valid MOT or is legally permitted to remain on the road.

This is not a satisfactory response - this is not a parking issue, this falls under the definition of a vehicle being seems as abandoned and is causing significant safety implications.

According to MOT records on .gov.uk the vehicle does not have a valid MOT therefore it is deemed as abandoned - please ensure this is investigated and the vehicle is removed from its current dangerous location

The vehicle is currently taxed and is not deemed to be abandoned by our enforcement officers. Please note the Police will only deal with MOT and Insurance incursions where the vehicle is being actively driven without an MOT or Insurance. As we are unable to consider further enforcement being considered at this point in time, it was referred to our parking colleagues to see if they could consider enforcement under parking legislation.
